Bio

Oka started to take photographs in the beginning of 2007, when he bought his first system camera. After taking photos as a hobby for six months, he decided to photograph a few weddings for free, to get material for a portfolio. He became a professional photographer in the beginning of 2008. Only a few months later his photos were published by a wedding magazine, to be followed by several other publications in the media. By this time his passion for photography had grown so strong that he left his job in the IT business.

Oka has exceptional talent for reflecting emotions in his photographs, and he succeeds in capturing unique moments in an artistic and timeless way. His photos have been noted worldwide, and Kodak has published an extensive editorial about him in ProPass magazine, regarding him as "Finland's most esteemed wedding photographer". He has also received several awards in international competitions.

Oka's style is based solely on documentary photography and he doesn't interfere with any of the events of the wedding day. The absence of flash combined with extraordinary editing result in extremely natural and beautiful photos that have made Oka very popular in his field.

Oka spent his childhood in the US and in Japan. He moved to Finland at the age of six and speaks Finnish as his mother tongue, and is fluent in English. He works mostly in Finland, but also photographs weddings around the world.
